Louis Pasteur was a French chemist and another pioneering microbiologist. He is best known for his invention of pasteurization in the late 1880s. This process helps kill bacteria in liquid food, such as milk. Pasteur also developed vaccines against diseases caused by bacteria, such as anthrax.
